Our Pre-School is positively led by a qualified teacher in Early Years.

Our two rooms encourage children to learn individually and with others through play. We offer our children a play-based curriculum, which meets all the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and supports all aspects of their learning and development.

Our creative layout of each room supports each child’s curiosity and desire to make sense of the world around them and helps them to discover that learning is interesting and fun.

Play in a secure homely environment with high adult/child ratios allows the children to explore, investigate and enjoy the learning experience.

We help them to practice and develop ideas, concepts and skills in a unique and non-threatening way, without fear of failure. Play is vital for children. It helps them to understand the world around them and to develop socially and emotionally. It’s through play that our children learn, develop at their own pace and have fun.

Our wonderful woodland outdoor play areas provide opportunity for natural imaginative and physical play as well as access to our environmental gardens to experience nature and living things. All children should be able to play and learn in a fun environment with adults who understand, support and care about them.  We want the children we care for to feel secure, and to have the confidence to deal with whatever life brings them.

All nursery children are provided with a free nursery uniform* and as part of our “Ready For School “programme. Each child is encourage to wear our nursery uniform creating a sense of belonging developing social and personal skills. Our nursery experience ensures each child will be more prepared for their first day at school and ready to reach their potential.

A key person approach is the most effective way of ensuring that children have a strong relationship with an adult in the nursery to support their emotional well being. Our staff work in a friendly homely environment and this creates a natural atmosphere that leads to children and adults forming good relationships and bonds. Each key person is responsible for observing and recording a Childs progress and development looking for the next steps. A comprehensive picture is formed about each individual child and shared with parents.

Blackberries offer fully flexible funding for children aged from 3-5 years. A maximum of 15 hours free childcare can be claimed at our nursery weekly. We are also offering a limited number of Term-Time only pre-school places. Please ask our Head of Childcare for more information.
